History
The Fisher Group Fastpitch Softball team of Mankato,
Minnesota is currently in its 13th year of
existence. The team has enjoyed a steady climb of
success each year it has taken to the diamond.
The team began in 1993 as the Sunset Lounge of North
Mankato. It was started by Brent Rabenhorst, Wayne
Baumgartner, Dean Kent, Kevin Kent and Kevin Timm and
was managed by Mike Wahtel and was comprised of players
from the Vernon Center area of southwestern Minnesota.
Original team members were: Brent Rabenhorst, Wayne
Baumgartner, Dean Kent, Kevin Kent, Kevin Timm, Brian
Wahtel, Todd Wahtel, Terry Wahtel, Mike Chamberlain,
Scott Ostermann, Randy Olson, Steve Haynes and Manager
Mike Wahtel.
In 1996 they took on the name of their new sponsor,
Rod’s Bar of Good Thunder and won the Minnesota ASA
Class C State Championship.
The 2000 season saw Fisher Group become the team’s
sponsor and namesake. One year later, the team reached
the fastpitch pinnacle, when they won the NAFA Class A
World Championship in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The team has appeared in 8 NAFA World Series and plays a
competitive tournament schedule each summer.
Fisher Group is currently the three-time defending
Minnesota ASA Class B State Champions and all of their
players are still from the same area they were when the
team was first created. |
